Your Call and Rely are pleased to announce our partnership with the Aged and Community Care Providers Association (ACCPA).
The partnership comes at a time when the aged care sector is mandating the use of incident management systems, such as Rely, to protect elderly people, as required by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission.
Research from the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety revealed 40 percent of elderly Australians living in aged care have experienced physical or emotional abuse. The types of issues elderly people in care experience include:
- the use of force
- sexual harassment
- neglect
- financial coercion
- physical or emotional abuse
Your Call and Rely Group CEO, Nathan Luker, says more must be done to protect elderly people in care.
“As Australia’s largest independent provider of whistleblowing services, we have worked with the aged care sector for many years to provide a compassionate speak up channel for employees, the elderly and their families via Your Call’s whistleblowing hotline. Now, with the launch of Rely, our intelligent incident management system, we can help aged care providers report incidents under the Serious Incident Response Scheme and gain the insights they need to build respectful cultures where people feel safe to speak up when they witness or experience misconduct,” said Mr Luker.
Rely’s first engagement with the ACCPA was to sponsor a webinar on the extension of the Serious Incident Response Scheme (SIRS) to providers of home care and flexible care delivered in a home or community setting. The event was attended by 120 members of ACCPA.
“We look forward to meeting ACCPA members and to helping them manage incidents and protect the elderly in their care,” said Mr Luker.
